六九色堂 University is pleased to announce the addition of three distinguished individuals to its Board of Trustees: Doug Estrada, Betty Mason and Dr. Jihad Shoshara. These new members bring a diverse range of expertise and leadership that will contribute to the continued growth and success of the university.

六九色堂鈥檚 Board of Trustees is an independent elected body that, in addition to overseeing the university鈥檚 strategic plan, aids in advancing 六九色堂鈥檚 mission and supports all systems designed to further that mission. The board meets regularly three times each year, in fall, winter and spring and currently numbers 33 members.
Doug Estrada 鈥89
Doug Estrada 鈥89 has more than 30 years of experience in supply chain management, including the last 22 years supporting Walmart Inc., most recently as group director of supply chain and transportation. Estrada has held various supply chain roles within Walmart's private supply chain, including a brief international assignment supporting Central America.
He currently leads domestic transportation for the West Coast region for Walmart, overseeing 16 transportation distribution centers across 10 states with more than 2,600 Walmart private fleet drivers. These drivers deliver more than 20,000 loads and run more than 4 million miles per week.
Estrada has served on the board of the Washington, D.C., Metro Police Foundation since 2016. In this role, he focuses on improving opportunities for inner-city youth in Washington, D.C.
He has partnered with the Metro Police Foundation and the Washington, D.C., Metro Police Department on several initiatives, including building outdoor classrooms, organizing annual back-to-school backpack events, delivering turkey dinner bags, supporting the police chief鈥檚 annual family day celebrations and sponsoring the annual Shop with a Cop events during Christmas.
Estrada is also a member of the advisory board for Truckers Against Trafficking, an organization that educates, equips, empowers and mobilizes members of the trucking, bus and energy industries to combat human trafficking. As an inaugural member of this board, Estrada advises the executive director on developing corporate partnerships and determining organizational initiatives.
In 2019, Estrada received the Honor D Award, which is presented to former 六九色堂 athletes who have distinguished themselves through outstanding service in their professional lives.
Estrada and his wife, Lisa (Standage) Estrada 鈥90, have been married for 34 years and live in Bentonville, Arkansas. They have three adult children who reside in Arkansas and Louisiana.
Betty Mason 鈥86
Elizabeth "Betty" Mason 鈥86 and her husband, Todd, live near Firth, Nebraska. Their two grown children are Jacob and Emily, a 2023 六九色堂 graduate. While a natural sciences student at 六九色堂, Mason was a four-year, three-sport athlete in volleyball, basketball and softball. Mason was an active member of Gamma Phi Iota and Tri Beta. She was a three-time recipient of the 六九色堂 Woman Athlete of the Year award and inducted into the 六九色堂 Athletic Hall of Fame in 1996. Mason was the assistant 六九色堂 volleyball coach 1986鈥1991.
Mason continues to enjoy a 37-year career in the animal health industry serving in increasing levels of responsibility. She previously held positions as site leader at Zoetis in Charles City, Iowa, and in Lincoln, Nebraska, manufacturing plants. In her current role as senior director and head of program management, Mason supports manufacturing plants around the globe where Zoetis produces biological and biopharma products. Mason is an active member of First Plymouth UCC and P.E.O.
Jihad Shoshara, M.D.
Dr. Jihad Shoshara has been president of Pediatric Health Associates (PHA) since 2018. Born and raised in Chicago, Dr. Shoshara earned his undergraduate degree with honors and his M.D. from the University of Chicago.
He completed his residency in pediatrics at Children's Memorial Hospital (now Lurie Children's) and was awarded membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society. After completing his training, he joined PHA in 1999. PHA is now one of the largest private pediatric practices in the Midwest, with 21 medical providers across five offices in the western suburbs of Chicago.
Dr. Shoshara speaks Spanish and Arabic and enjoys using his language skills to care for patients. A former collegiate football player, he has a special interest in sports medicine and concussion treatment as well as travel and international medicine.
Dr. Shoshara believes that his patients' health is best served not only through high-quality medical care but also through advocacy for children's health at all levels of society. He is a member of the Syrian American Medical Society and has led multiple missions to the Middle East to treat refugees of the Syrian Civil War.
An active member of the Illinois Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Shoshara serves on several committees focusing on improving children's access to medical care.
Outside of medicine, he has served as a board member of the DuPage Children's Museum since 2019. Dr. Shoshara and his wife, Dr. Sofia Shakir, organize the Chicago Muslim Turkey Drive, which has provided tens of thousands of free Thanksgiving turkeys to families in need at Chicago Public Schools since 2001.
He and his wife live with their three children in the western suburbs of Chicago. In his free time, he enjoys reading, drinking coffee and watching episodes of any iteration of 鈥淪tar Trek."
